SKY
JOINS STAR-STUDDED "STRANGE AFFLICTION" CAST:
PERFORMS WITH CARL REINER AND SAMANTHA EGGAR
On Friday,
October 26, Sky was honored to join the cast of "The Strange Affliction", a one-act comedy written and
directed by the "Poet Laureate of Radio", 97-year-old Norman Corwin
for the benefit of the Thousand Oaks Library Foundation.
Stars of the television and film world that
comprised "The Strange Affliction" cast were Carl
Reiner, Samantha Eggar, Norman
Lloyd, Marvin Kaplan,
Janet
Waldo, Linda Henning,
Peter
Dennis, Diane Mercer, Leonard Maltin, Gil Stratton and long-time California Artists Radio Theatre announcer, John
Harlan.
The staged radio show was a tribute to Norman Corwin and a salute to
philanthropist Robert Ahmanson, who died in September. Also, the
event launched a new initiative for the Thousand Oaks Library,
which is constructing a wing to house the library's American Radio Archives - a collection of classic original
radio
drama scripts, recordings of original shows and other memorabilia.
At the event, composer Kenneth Stange performed his original score for "The Strange Affliction". Tony Palermo provided sound effects and Marty Halperin
engineered.
Leonard Maltin has posted a wonderful write-up - with photos - on his "Movie Crazy" website. See the article at www.LeonardMaltin.com!
SKY
PERFORMS IN STAGE-READING FOR
L.A.'S PRESTIGIOUS ANTAEUS THEATRE COMPANY
In another recent Los Angeles stage appearence, Sky performed several roles in
Irwin Shaw's
one-act drama, BURY THE DEAD, a
stage-reading before
an audience that included
select Board members of the Antaeus Theatre
Company in Studio City.
Directed by veteran Hollywood character actor and director, Richard Herd, the versatile
multi-generational cast featured longtime Antaeus member and versatile
actor, singer,
writer, director and producer, Phil Proctor -
probably best known as one of the founding members of Firesign
Theatre, the brilliant, surrealistic audio comedy troupe; television and film
veteran, Vaughn Armstrong (Clear and Present Danger, Star
Trek: Enterprise, Days of Our Lives);
and Mirron Willis (E.R., Babylon 5, Beverly Hills, 90210); along with a group of
talented and energetic young L.A. actors and actresses.
BURY
THE DEAD was written
by Irwin Shaw in 1936. Set in the "Second Year of War That Is to
Begin Tomorrow," the dead on
a battlefield refuse burial and enlist the living to resist the
generals in a harrowing anti-war one act drama.
The Antaeus Company, L.A.'s much heralded classical theatre ensemble,
is currently undergoing a major Capital Campaign in anticipation of
opening the 12,000 square foot Antaeus Center, outfitted as
playhouses, rehearsal rooms, offices, and library. Find out more
information by visiting the company's website at: www.antaeus.org.
